Foraging at Ryvoan Lodge

Foraging at Ryvoan Lodge

August is a great month for foraging of plants and mushrooms including the blaeberry, wild raspberry and chanterelle. It is worth being prepared when out in the forests so that these tasty berries can be eaten as you find them or picked and made into pies, muffins and jams. Our particular favourite for chanterelles is to fry them with butter and garlic and serve them on the local oatcakes from Balliefurth Farm Food shop.

Remember, you must be 100% certain of your plant identification in order to avoid poisonous plants which look similar and it is also important to forage in a sustainable way.
